Customer Review: Great phone at a reasonable price
I was quick to write the title to this review. Nokia have already got a histort with mobile phones, from the early days of the 3200’s - the biggest thing since sliced bread, to new “phones” (questionable) that have camera’s better quality than a budget digital camera. But I feel that over the past year or 2, Nokia have gone down hill with their range of mobile phones that seem to appeal less to the average person, and more to the flash office type who wants a multi-gimo ‘device’.

However, this Nokia 6230i, released in 2004 is what were looking at, and this phone probably presents one of the best combinations of value and quality - something they always used to be good at.

It’s small, and fits and very nice in your hand. It’s also a good weight - what is a good weight, your probably wondering? In other words, its not so light your going to worry about it breaking, and its not a break. It feels robust and i’ve dropped mine countless times, only to find off scuffs on the case. The buttons are also unsually good too - they are stiff and dont require effort to push, they feel as if they were designed for texting, because they click so easily!

Under the battery, you have the option of installing an ‘MMC’ (the only format - not SD cards unfortunately) card to add extra space for music, videos, photos, whatever you like. This can have a capacity of 512mb - more than enough if you ask me, and price around the same as SD cards.

So, what’s it like to use? Again, the menu layout and whole structure of the phone’s use goes back to older Nokia which were so, so easy to use. On your left button, you have the typical “Go To” options for your commonly used applications. On your right button, you can choose whatever you like. The nice centre button acts as an ‘ok’ button, nicely placed for your thumb, and arrow buttons which give even more options - handy for on the Media Player etc. On the side of the phone, you have a 2 way button for changing the volume, handy when playing music - nothing fancy of course.

But what makes it good value? It has a 1.3 megapixel camera for starters. I understand that even now, phones have oddly gone up to the 4 megapixel groups - I say oddly because at the end of the day, its a phone! But one thing is for sure, I won’t be going back to VGA cameras anymore - the difference this camera has is amazing, and shows up inceredibly well on this colourful screen. You can also take videos too, again very good quality with little to no lag time/pixellation. However, if your the video/picture type person, I do reccomend getting some more memory.

The phone also has Bluetooth, handy nowadays, especially if you want to trade files with other peoples phones. Or, if your feeling mischevious, try sending random files to peoples phones! Little things get to young hearts… thankgod I’ve grown out of that phase!

Theirs also a Media/Music player, where you can watch any videos or listen to any music (mp3) on your phone. Normally, I would say this has turned out to be a bad feature, as I simply can’t stand kids walking around streets, holding their phone out and playing stupidly loud music, while possibly having another hand in their pants. However, I have to say, it does come in handy, and is a nice feature if you want to play music with friends, and be social etc.

I can’t rate this phone highly enough. Admittedly, its in an awkward price range, but if your willing to pay just that little bit extra, you’ll no-doubt reap the rewards, because this phone is quality all the way through, from its robust build, to the number of options available to make it easier to use, and to personalize it. I previously had a Motorola L6 for its incredible ease of use, and pencil thin design, but for me, this is Nokia’s best. Its smart, simple tough, and has just the things you’ll need.

Customer Review: Good product overall
I found this phone really good overall, it’s small and has some good features, however if you’re thinking of buying this to replace your mp3 player, beware. I was disapointed because the volume isn’t loud enough and you can only use Nokia’s headphones which are not great. Also, it’s nice being able to take pictures and video but the quality is so low it can only be fun for a while, this is really a gadget. I guess other phones on the marker offer the same kind of features, no more. Let’s hope in few years time we’ll be able to combine all these features into one device with high quality. We’re getting there.

This is a perfect item, fits well and easily manipulated to make the necessary adjustment for both myself and my wife to see depending who was driving. I have a N95 and it fits perfectly, i could also make pretty much any phone fit as its sturdy and fits easily into the holder which is impecably well made. Not too expensive and well worth the money paid..

The order came very quickly, good quality for the price, as others said bottem foot is in the way for charging but i also hacksawed it off. All in all very happy.
