I bought one of these from ‘Mobile and Me’ through a link from Amazon. Item arrived next day, recommend seller. As the other review says; this isn’t the most aesthetic of items and the proof of the pudding will only come when I eventually drop the phone but for only a couple of quid compared to some of the leather jobs with bad reviews sold on Amazon I have to say I’m delighted.
Customer Review: Way better than the hard plastic alternative
Bought this as an alternative to a case that wraps around the whole phone, or those leather / neoprene affairs that split eventually and offer very little protection for the screen. Fitting this to the phone is easy, just drop it into the bottom half of the case, then slide the top half on. The two halves are held together by a thin line of plastic set into the silicon, which i did have initial reservations about, but has held together well. The case does add a small amount of width because of two thicker ridges of silicon running down the sides, but these act as excellent bumpers for the inevitable moment when you drop your phone and do add good overall grip when making calls. All the major buttons are still accessible and easy to use as the manufacturers have placed slightly harder sections of plastic over them which don’t impair use at all, the infrared still works fine through the case as well. The fit around the camera lens is perfect but the sliding switch to open the lens cover is slightly restricted when closing, not really a problem though and it does stop accidental opening. The silicon also adds a small amount of thickness to the area around the screen which does protect it if you place it face down, but it does not cover the screen at all so i have used this case in conjunction with peel off screen protectors and found this a good pairing. There is a cut out in the side of the case to allow access to the memory card, but the silicon is a little too thick to get to the cover without removing the case first. Again not a problem if, like me, you install your memory card once and never have any real need to remove it as i just use the usb cable supplied for file transfers anyway. The slide action works perfectly in both directions and the two halves of the phone are not forced apart in any way as is the case with some other products. However i often carry the phone in my pocket and the only gripe i do have about the case, hence the 4 star rating, is that silicon is very grippy and holds on to the inside of pockets very well. I have found that one half of the case can catch on the lining of clothes and cause the slide to open accidentally, especially on a phone that slides in both directions. Again something that can be adapted to though. All in all an excellent product that protects the phone extremely well while not impairing any of its functions.
