I bought one of these from ‘Mobile and Me’ through a link from Amazon. Item arrived next day, recommend seller. As the other review says; this isn’t the most aesthetic of items and the proof of the pudding will only come when I eventually drop the phone but for only a couple of quid compared to some of the leather jobs with bad reviews sold on Amazon I have to say I’m delighted.
Customer Review: Way better than the hard plastic alternative
Bought this as an alternative to a case that wraps around the whole phone, or those leather / neoprene affairs that split eventually and offer very little protection for the screen. Fitting this to the phone is easy, just drop it into the bottom half of the case, then slide the top half on. The two halves are held together by a thin line of plastic set into the silicon, which i did have initial reservations about, but has held together well. The case does add a small amount of width because of two thicker ridges of silicon running down the sides, but these act as excellent bumpers for the inevitable moment when you drop your phone and do add good overall grip when making calls. All the major buttons are still accessible and easy to use as the manufacturers have placed slightly harder sections of plastic over them which don’t impair use at all, the infrared still works fine through the case as well. The fit around the camera lens is perfect but the sliding switch to open the lens cover is slightly restricted when closing, not really a problem though and it does stop accidental opening. The silicon also adds a small amount of thickness to the area around the screen which does protect it if you place it face down, but it does not cover the screen at all so i have used this case in conjunction with peel off screen protectors and found this a good pairing. There is a cut out in the side of the case to allow access to the memory card, but the silicon is a little too thick to get to the cover without removing the case first. Again not a problem if, like me, you install your memory card once and never have any real need to remove it as i just use the usb cable supplied for file transfers anyway. The slide action works perfectly in both directions and the two halves of the phone are not forced apart in any way as is the case with some other products. However i often carry the phone in my pocket and the only gripe i do have about the case, hence the 4 star rating, is that silicon is very grippy and holds on to the inside of pockets very well. I have found that one half of the case can catch on the lining of clothes and cause the slide to open accidentally, especially on a phone that slides in both directions. Again something that can be adapted to though. All in all an excellent product that protects the phone extremely well while not impairing any of its functions.

I purchased this for my son for christmas.Very easy to load on the computer but you do need windows xp not vista. downloaded own songs no problem but cannot access online store. Have had to have a replacement from fisher price with no questions asked as would not let me delete anything. New one does but still cannot access store. Very easy to use by my 5 yr old. Think it is a great idea but hope i have no further problems

Bought mine in Spain 2 days ago.Followed the booklet instructions and got it going.The on-CD users manual was better for details.Sucessfully downloaded BBC podcasts(dial-up connection!)loaded playlists-deleted and added a photo.All as claimed-except as mentioned by others switching OFF is ‘difficult’.Wish I had bought a bigger one!
Customer Review: Worth it, but…
On the whole I’m on the side of the positive reviews. The sound is good through the supplied headphones, and I had little trouble setting it up and using it for the basic functions. Mine, too, however, is very difficult to switch off, and I must say I prefer loading from the i-tunes store than messing about with transferring music files to the Windows media player and then to the Philips audio player (downloaded from the supplied set-up CD). I could have done with more explicit instructions in the manual. I also find it not good enough that when I look up the Philips support site to discover whether or not it is compatible with Windows Vista, all I get in reply is ‘it may be compatible’. In fact, it is. But ‘may’ isn’t good enough from the manufacturer of the thing!

with any device like this it depends what purpose you want it for. i wanted small, long battery life, quality play back and cheep. i got all of this from this little player. i bought a pair of Sennheiser CX 300 headphones at the same time, they work very well together. im using this daily while running with the player just dropped inside my pocket. in this situation i find the lack of a screen no loss at all, as i just switch tracks without taking it out of my pocket. i was using a tecknet player prior to this and that was just awful, same storage but had a screen and wasnt in anyway user friendly, sounded rough as well.
Customer Review: mp3 tracks jump like they are scratched
which I’ve never come across before. I got this for my daughter and painstakingly downloaded many of her favourite songs on it - love the look of it and the fact that it appears in itunes on my mac makes life easier too. But when she went to play them back, many of them jump like a scratched record, skipping away like nobody’s business. I tried to delete them all and start afresh and managed to seriously crash my OSX computer, no mean feat! Now the device says it has 1.7Gb space and no tunes on it, yet it will play all 200 that I loaded on there - badly, of course! Very very peculiar. I will give it one more go, and unless I get some advice on here, I reckon it will be going back. Got my son a real cheapo MP3 player a few months back and touch wood, it has been absolutely fine: chose this for her as I had problems with a Sandisk player not showing on my Mac and then got her a cheap Technika one from Tesco that died after first use … we seem fated not to have an MP3 player!
