How to take Great Photos of Your Pet

We all love our animals. They do such funny, adorable, and cute things. But somehow when that camera comes out they run and hide or they just seem to always be pointed away from the camera when you push the button. Well here are some tips to help you have a better chance at getting great photos of your pet.

1. Don’t wake your pet out of deep sleep and attempt to coerce him into performing for the camera. It won’t happen. Try to take photos of your pet during their routine playtime.

2. If there is enough daylight to take photos then turn the flash off. My cat has learned to close his eyes just before the flash goes off. He learned that little trick quick too! Many times a camera flash is just too bright for them, that’s why they point away from you when they know that you’re taking photos.

3. Don’t try to get them looking into the camera. If there is someone around who can play with your pet just get a shot of them playing with someone else. You can have the photo with the person and the pet or get close to crop the person out of the shot.

4. If your pet always runs away from you every time you pull the camera out try leaving the camera sit out where it can be seen. Take photos of other things in the home and try turning the flash off.

5. Be prepared to grab your camera and take photos when your pet is ready, read “doing something cute.” I’ve been able to get some of the best photos of my cat when he’s just doing something on his own.

Remember don’t put pressure on your animal to perform for the camera. Think more on the lines of catch them in their natural habitat. Our pets want to make us happy and you can easily confuse them by pressuring them to look good for the camera. Also be prepared to take a whole lot of bad photos for that one really good one.

Customer Review: Fantastic with one big limitation
This is a great item, easy to setup, and even easier to use. Watch and control Sky TV from your mobile phone, mac or pc. Biggest issue that isn’t mentioned in the product literature is that you can only access it from one device at a time - ie forget streaming to two computers in different rooms of the house. Even so, its still a great product and you will be not be disappointed with it.
Customer Review: A ‘Change Your Life’ Product
This is one of those devices that changes the way you think of how everyday things work. This has been as revolutionary to the way I think of TV in the same way that they ipod completly redefined the way I use music. The first time I had it working is what I can only describe as an ‘ipod moment’. The slingbox is a reason in itself to get broadband in your house. I had it set up in less than 30 minutes. The instructions were easy. I downloaded software onto my desktop PC and was quickly able to watch and control my Sky TV in my bedroom. The whole sky remote works in the software perfectly. Great. Downloaded the software onto my laptop, no problem in the house. Worked perfect. Great. The only snag I did hit was that it told me during set-up that it would not work outside my house (which is rather the point) however, the screen guidance told me what the problem likely was (my router) and how to solve it. 10 minutes later (with a wee bit of help from google) I was perfect again - and I’m glad the set-up told me this before I went out. So, I travel a lot with work, and have now been able to watch my home TV in real time, in Germany, Spain, Dubai, Australia, USA without any problem at all. Sitting on the beach, using the hotel wifi, watching the permier league on my laptop. How good is that? I have since signed up with the mobile operator Three who have a deal with sling and software so that you can even watch it on your mobile phone (extra tenner a month for unlimited use). It is mental! and it works! To be honest I don’t actually watch as much TV on my mobile as I thought I would (one of those things, just because you ‘can’ do something doesn’t mean you will… however, it has saved me several times because I can set the sky + or whatever using it. The phone thing isn’t an essential upgrade but it is a nice option to have. This is a genius gadget - cool for anyone - but ESSENTIAL for anyone who travels overseas a lot, gets stuck in hotel rooms, and misses TV. At under ?100 it is also just a ridiculous bargain.

The accessory pack arrived with all the items dumped into a jiffy bak with no thought given to presentation. The CD included had no cover and hence came cracked in three places, rendering it useless! The only items in the pack that turned out to be of any use were the spare battery, the USB dongle, and the recharger. The 1Gb memory card has proven to be the most worthwhile item. In a word - Disappointing !

Customer Review: Foggy disappointment
I’ve always bought screen protectors for my phones even if the rectangular piece of plastic is absurdly overpriced, as in this case. However, this is not a good product. I’ve recently bought the Nokia N95 8GB and wanted decent screen protection. While the protector itself fits well and securely, the visibility is very poor. When a phone like the N95 has its big screen as one of the major selling points, you want to view it in crystal clear fashion. This protector had the effect of a very fine bluish gauze as an opaque mask layered on the screen and significantly distracted from the screen quality. The instructions tell you to wait ‘a few days’ for the mist to clear. I waited five days and lost patience. Mine is now in the bin as it is impossible to return once removed from the phone. My ?7.95 is lost. Don’t get caught like I did.

Customer Review: Super machine
This is great DVD recorder to get. I bought it so I could ditch Sky and get Freeview instead (which is built in) and save the monthly fee. Not being technically minded I had a few problems getting all the cables sorted out but once installed correctly it works a treat. The menus are easy to use. You can record direct to the hard-drive or onto a blank disc. If you want to keep a program it can be transferred from the the hard-drive onto disc. At the moment I only seem to be able to do this at playback speed, which is a bit slow. However that could just be because I haven’t worked out how to use it correctly yet! Its easy to switch back to analogue (whilst it still exists) if I need to and in all honesty I don’t know how I managed without this device now.

Customer Review: Digital TV stick
Maybe my signal area isn’t too hot but i found this piece of kit to be pretty bad. I couldn’t pick up alot of channels that i thought would be a given. I couldn’t get any of channel 4’s catalogue other than e4+1 and i struggled with ITV’s armoury too.

I often had drop outs and annoyingly long freezes, whilst my digibox in the room next door worked perfectly.

the little arial it comes with is a joke. anyone that tells you they get a picture with that sorry excuse for an arial is a joker too. The remote control is about as convenient as getting up off of your comfy chair and using your mouse, which doesn’t give using the mouse enough credit.

I ended up returning mine after a week, after feeling that there could be better products on the market.

There were. I exchanged mine for a KV World PCI option, which instantly picked up every channel in a quater of the time and came with a fantastic remote control (and receiver too). I’m now able to sit anywhere and shut my PC down with this remote. Very usefull. No signal drop outs and no problem scanning.

I wouldn’t recomend this knowing there are other options that are much better on the market. I never tried the recording with the Freecom DVB USB stick but with the constant drop outs it didn’t seem worth it.

I’ve had one of these for 2 months and it sucks for the following reasons: 1. It’s slow and unresponsive - change channel and wait for about 5 seconds while it thinks about doing it. 2. It’s flaky - it locks up often and you need to pull the power cable out to reset it. 3. Poor interface and on screen display. Development mistakes have made it into production box - flickering graphics, inconsistent double buffered graphics. 4. EPG is almost useless. I just got fed up and bought a panasonic TU-CT20 and, by comparison, it’s fantastic. So my advice, shop around but whatever you do, steer clear of this box - there are better ones out there, often cheaper.
Customer Review: Dont even bother
Well the fiver saved (from buying a decent Nokia box or such like) was never worth it for the absolute nightmare this box is to setup. Im a techy by nature, program computers for a living and have vast experience with Sky boxes etc so it wasnt like I didnt know what i was doing. The bottom line (so far as I can see) is that this box only puts out 1 signal from the digi box. That is once you plug the out from Digi box into TV \ Video there is only 1 RF signal, normal channels 1-5 Analogue simply are not there (apart from on the digi channel), hence you can not watch Digi (or BBC1 for that fact) and record any other channel. F***** usless. I have ended up getting around this with a signal splitter \ booster with which I split the signal pre entry to the digi box so a normal RF goes into the video (so can get 1-5 normal on TV \ Video) then Digi channels run through the scart. Of course the fiver saved was then 15 spent on cables and a splitter to make the box do what it should in the first place. Not to mention the number of hours spent setting the dam thing up.. I wouldnt touch another Hauppauge produce in my life and can only worthheartedly reccomend you look else where for a decent terrestrial TV receiver.. My 2pence.. hope saves someone the hassles I’ve had..

Customer Review: Bought two; neither one lasted over a year!
I purchased two of these for my son and daughter last year for Christmas gifts. At first they were fine, easy to use (these were our first mp3 players)and they really enjoyed them. After a few months my daughters began to act up with the screen and not play, but if she shut it off and turned back on it would be fine. Then a few months later nothing, it quit all together. Then a few months later my sons quit working too. I would not recommend this product at all. VERY DISAPPOINTED!

This player was purchased as a Christmas gift, for a family member. I also have one and other similar SANDISK players. If you are looking for a straight forward player (no video, photos - etc) that just works properly and doesn’t take rocket science to operate - this might be the one for you. It plays (MP3) music - very well, uses disposable AAA battery instead of expensive (to replace) Li-Ion and won’t cost you a kidney to obtain. A SMART LITTLE PURCHASE!!!
